Help feed children this summer—and beyond!
Support MUNCH, The River's mobile lunch program. $1.50=1 lunch for a child in Dane County
We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Help provide healthy lunches to children through the rest of the year!
EXCITING UPDATE: Thanks to many generous individuals and organizations, we reached our goal of raising $50,000 to provide over 30,000 MUNCH lunches this summer! However, MUNCH runs on non-school days year-round. Please help us to continue MUNCH for the remainder of the 2019 school year.
Whenever school is not in session, thousands of children in our community do not receive their free or reduced lunch from school.
You can help feed children (who might otherwise go hungry) by supporting MUNCH, The River Food Pantry’s mobile lunch program.
MUNCH (Madison Unites to Nourish Children at Home) provides free healthy lunches to children, teens, and their caretakers in 9 local low-income neighborhoods on non-school days throughout the year.
From June 13 to December 31:
- The River’s MUNCH van will be out distributing nutritious lunches on non-school days.
- The River will also provide MUNCH lunches to families with children during Friday market sessions to reach more youth across Dane County. 40% of the households The River serves have children!
- On average, each MUNCH lunch costs The River $1.50.
- To serve over 33,500 MUNCH lunches for the 80 days of summer vacation and over 16,500 MUNCH lunches on non-school days during the school year, The River will spend a minimum of $75,000.
Your much-needed support will help provide the quantity and quality of nutrition that children need to grow academically and socially. When you give to MUNCH, 95 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to those we serve.
Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and for helping us end childhood hunger this summer—and beyond.

Because The River Food Pantry is a 501(c)(3) charity, your donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
When donating online, you might see a charge in your payment history as "Network For Good." This is the payment processing and donor management service we use to track and process payments. When selecting to "pay a transaction fee," you are allowing us to receive the full amount of your donation, then covering the cost of the fee that Network For Good charges. When declining this, you are still giving us a donation, but the fee comes out of the amount you pledge to us. Example: You donate $20 to The River. If you accept the fee, you pay $20.75. If you decline the fee, The River receives $19.25. This applies to every payment, including reoccurring payments.
